Phototool Film

GMP 2000 Diazo Phototool

Product Description

GMP 2000 is designed to function as a working master in the manufacture of printed circuit boards. Unlike silver halide films, GMP 2000 can be handled in room light, for brief periods, and is processed using ammonia vapors and moderate heat.

The image layer is comprised of a hardened resin with excellent chemical and abrasion resistance. This makes GMP 2000 an ideal choice for exposing multiple PCBs.

The dye image provides high UV density coupled with visual see through. This feature provides opacity for resist exposures yet allows for visual registration.

GMP 2000 features exceptional dye stability which allows for multiple exposures as a phototool. The 7mil base provides excellent thermal stability. Stored under recommended conditions, 70°F/50%Rh, the film is stable for at least one year.

KEY PERFORMANCE FACTORS

GMP has balanced the key performance factors: imaging parameters, surface durability and dimensional stability. We believe excellence in these disciplines is essential for a world class phototool. GMP 2000 provides a hard image layer without compromising sensitometry.

The polyester base support chosen for GMP 2000, has unsurpassed dimensional stability.

Imaging & Processing

GMP 2000 is sensitive to UV radiation (408 Nm peak sensitivity). Metal halide lamps are typically used for exposure. Since diazo imaging produces a direct copy of the original, correct exposure is determined by measuring Dmin values. A properly exposed print should have a visual Dmin in the area of .07 density units.

A conventional diazo developer can be used for processing. Most units employ aqueous ammonia (23 - 26 degree Baume) with a chamber temperature of approximately 150°F. The amber image color can make it difficult to visually verify full development. For this reason we recommend that GMP 2000 be passed through the developer twice to assure complete development. You cannot over develop a diazo print. Your GMP 2000 print is complete after processing. No other finishing is required.
